The Feral Song (2004 Demo)

by Patrick Wolf

/

about

This was the eleventh song to be released on Patreon in the Februrary of 2023

"For this month I thought to share with you "The Feral Song" a sweet little unhinged baritone ukulele song that never made it past demo stage, I think as I would very soon after this have a deep calling from the world of "wind in the wires" that quickly abducted me within...

I think in this song and the production, my love for "The Magnetic Fields" comes scuttling through, a band I was enamoured with in my late teenage years, the album "Get Lost" most dearly. I was also most likely deep in my Meredith Monk obsession at the time, hence the chaotic clusters of harmonies and little distorted back of the throat wailings toward the end"

lyrics

call the police
raise the alarms
take your hungry body
out of my arms
theres a wind in the garden
making storm in protest
of this calm situation
and its making me wet
never let me go
teach me how to love
tie me to your bed
teach me how to love
for I am feral
and i need to be tamed
so never let me go
again
i was born in the forest
raised in the dirt
captured by your beauty
reprogrammed by your flirt
and when the moon gets full
and my heart starts to burn
lock me up darling
i've got to learn
never let me go
teach me how to love
tie me to your bed
teach me how to love
i am feral
and i need to be tamed
no never let me go
out there
again
